For the past 11 years, my work has focused on strengthening and improving our community. I’ve worked with organizations in tourism, education, agriculture and environment, arts and culture, and social and human services sectors. I’ve invested in improving our community from the ground up, bringing sustainability and growth by leveraging and better utilizing the assets and resources we have available. It is this determination that I will bring to the Otsego County Representatives.
I thank you for your interest in this campaign, and I look forward to meeting many of you personally as I travel throughout the area. I am always keen to listen to your concerns, hear your thoughts, and discuss your ideas. Please do not hesitate to contact me to learn more.
-Andrew Marietta
Following graduation from the Cooperstown Graduate Program, Andrew worked in marketing and fundraising at the Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers’ Museum. He transitioned to the New York Council of Nonprofits, and for the past decade, has assisted Otsego County organizations in the areas of governance, strategic planning, marketing, revenue generation and risk management. In addition, he is a licensed broker, providing insurance assistance and guidance.
Andrew’s knowledge and expertise has provided him the opportunities to establish connections throughout the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Council. He has traveled all over NYS and learned about a variety of struggles and challenges communities face, and that there is no silver bullet solution. He understands the need to build on the strong foundation of our region.
Andrew has also invested in Cooperstown. He owns and operates three buildings with fifteen apartments. Andrew understands that rebuilding our population is crucial to our area’s future success. Because of that, he only rents to year-round renters, forgoing short term profit from tourist rentals for year-round residents who add to, and become part of, our community. He understands the needs and challenges of the community and region and the importance of vision and action to bring success to Cooperstown.
He understands the tradition and history of Cooperstown and the importance it plays in Otsego County.
Andrew has been involved with the community, serving six years on the Cooperstown Chamber Board, with two years as the Board President. He sees the value of the Chamber to businesses and community, and recently rejoined the Board. A strong Chamber means success for everyone. He has worked in marketing and tourism, and recently provided assistance to the New York Cultural Heritage Tourism Network and Museum Association of New York.
Andrew is nearing the end of his 4th year on the Cooperstown Central School Board. He presently chairs the PR Committee and serves on the Personnel Committee. Andrew is a past Chair of the Cooperstown Winter Carnival Committee. He also serves on the Board of Mothers and Babies Perinatal Network, a service organization helping families in Otsego and surrounding counties.
So it’s no wonder that Andrew feels passionately about Cooperstown and the Town of Otsego. Helping others is important to him. And it’s what draws him to represent District 8 as a County Representative.
As a collaborator, Andrew works behind the scenes to strengthen our community, leveraging the assets we have to achieve the best return on investment. He is dedicated to improving the quality of life and economic impact of Cooperstown by building upon Otsego County’s opportunities.
“In his various capacities – Chamber of Commerce, School Board, NYCON - I’ve found Andy to be one of the most community involved people I know, quick to volunteer and always available to help. His openness, honesty, consistency and reliability are traits we need in our County Representative.”
